In 2008, 23 organizations representing Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) reached consensus on a standardized model for APRN regulation – the Consensus Model for APRN Regulation: Licensure, Accreditation, Certification, and Education. Between 2008 and 2010, 48 organizations endorsed the model. To support the implementation of the Consensus Model, a workgroup developed a structure and recommendations for a LACE Network. The Network now known as LACE consisting of 32 member organizations representing all four components of APRN regulation: licensure, accreditation, certification, and education created a non-hierarchical structure to promote transparent and ongoing communication and cooperation among the organizations tasked with implementing the APRN Consensus Model.
The Network now includes 32 organizations representing APRN licensure, accreditation, certification, education and practice. All LACE organizations have an equal voice in advancing APRN issues and concerns, participating in discussions, and developing and approving position statements and other supporting materials. The LACE Mission, Functions, and Values were approved in 2009 by all participating organizations; see link below.
